In the past, paying Flickr for an Ad-Free experience had a dual meaning: you wouldn't see ads, and neither would the users who looked at your photographs. That definition, it seems, has changed, as some disgruntled Pro users are reporting that every 4th or 5th photo on their streams is now a full-size ad when viewed from a free user's account.

There are a seemingly infinite number of videos that walk you through retouching a portrait from beginning to end; however, most of them are based in Photoshop, Lightroom and -- once upon a time -- Aperture. This leaves the less-used but robust Capture One Pro out of the game.

Well, not anymore! Giving Capture One Pro 8 some love is photographer and retoucher Michael Woloszynowicz, who decided to take it for a test drive and see how close he could get to his Photoshop results using Capture One Pro 8 instead.

Let’s start with a little quiz. What one thing makes a pro camera a pro camera? Build quality? Weather sealing? Fast autofocus? Fast motor drive? Dual SD card slots?

Don’t think too long over the answer because it’s none of the above. A pro camera is a camera that a pro uses. Period.

Most sling-style straps today have a problem: the mounting point. They all use a rather bulky connector or plate screwed into your camera’s tripod mount, so if you’re using a pro body or a battery grip on your camera, these straps make it uncomfortable, if not impossible, to take advantage of shooting portrait style.

To solve that problem, a designer and an engineer have teamed up to create CAMS, a pro sling strap, camera plate and lens plate that are built with the aforementioned problem in mind.

Up until now, when exporting a RAW image from Lightroom to another program to work on, Lightroom first had to convert it to a JPEG or TIFF image. This effectively rendered shooting in RAW useless if you were wanting to do much outside editing on the images. Here to change that though is DxO with Optics Pro 9.5.
